nonprofessional interests

Here is a little part of my favoured nonprofessional interests. Maybe, in some time I will give you hints of other interests.

  • juggling
1994 I learned to juggle three balls. I found out the cascade (one basic pattern) and I was not conscious that so many other people did the same.
Two years later I began to try harder, four balls, more difficult three-ball patterns and finally five balls. Standing under the sky and juggling five balls is my kind of meditation and forgetting everything around me.
I also do some club-juggling, this is for my opinion more exciting with a partner, but fortunately my friend is a very great juggler, so in summertime we do - if we find the time - juggling together.
  • music
The first instrument I learned was the classical guitar and it is until now the instrument on which I feel musically at home.
I like Bach-pieces as well as modern classic pieces e.g from Leo Brouwer.
There are some other instruments on which I have got some little experiences:
2000 I learned to play the alto-flute and it was a very interesting but also not so easy experiment to play an instrument for one voice.
Every time I am at home by my friend I play on his e-piano some easy pieces out of lesson-books or I do some improvisations. For my feeling the piano is a wonderful instrument for improvising.
At the moment I like to hear some jazzy music, especially jazzy classical music, for example all pieces played by Jaques Loussier, such as the Vivaldi "Vier Jahreszeiten", Eric Satie "Gynopedies & Gnossiennes" or the now quite popular "playing Bach"-series.
I also have got some experience in playing and hearing rock-music, but time after time I come away from it. 1999-2000 I was for one year in the band "nervous activity" (H. Kunigo drums, T. Meyer e-bass, J. Wachter guitar, J. Meyer songwriter, singer and guitar). We tried to make some pretentious rock-music. I do not know if this is a contradiction itself!?

further interests or activities

  • snakeboarding
Snakeboarding is one of my further activities. It's a little bit like summer snowboarding.
