The Postal History of Austria This is the exaggerated
title of that page which has to gain some substance. I'm a
beginner in that area and what I missed very much was a page
that has put together all the useful and necessary
information. Thus I was searching together, what I needed and
placed it on this page. The next beginner can therefore save
the time. My aim are two parallel pages in German and English
language, respectively, while some sections are bilingual.
The page should contain important informations (I omit the
word "all") regarding the Austrian postal history
from the first to the end of the sixth issue (June 1850 -
October 1884). Also short trips to prephilately and to semi-modern
issues will appear on it. In the moment, printed and online
information are present, as well as useful addresses. On a
separate linked page I show some items, which are interesting
me. A similar page I have already done for French postal
history. Who is interested in this area may look there. If
anybody could help me to fill the many gaps of this page,
please send me an e-mail. Literature In this section you will
find the monographs which are of greater importance for
Austrian postal history up to1884. The list contains only the
pure reference, a summary of the content will be added
lateron. This page is for sure incomplete and I'll be happy
about every hint regarding important references given to me.
The monographs are listed in alphabetical sequence of the
author names - and that in the areas Stamps and postal
history - in general, Stamps - first issue, Stamps - second
to fifth issue, Stamps - sixth issue, Postmarks -
prephilately, Postmarks - entire monarchy, Postmarks -
Austria itself, Postmarks - Hungary, Postmarks - Bohemia,
Postmarks - Lombardo-Venetia, Postmarks - Dalmatia. In
addition you will find here catalogues and journals, which
are related to Austrian philately and postal history.
