Ausländische Gastarbeiter wurden in der DDR nicht in die Bevölkerung
integriert, sondern unter sich in speziellen Wohnheimen untergebracht. Neben Vietnamesen arbeiteten in der DDR
auch Angolaner, Mocambiquesen, Kambodschaner und Menschen aus anderen "sozialistischen Bruderländern".
Jede Arbeitervolksgruppe hatte ihre eigenen Wohnheime, das der Vietnamesen lag an der Rhinstraße in Lichtenberg,
an der Grenze zu Marzahn. Um den angeblich katastrophalen hygienischen Bedingungen und der Kriminalität ein
Ende zu bereiten, wurde das Wohnheim 1995, als letztes dieser Art in Berlin, geschlossen. Die Fotos enstanden Anfang April, 2003. Also the socialist German Democratic Republic hired contract workers from foreign socialist "brother countries", people from countries like Angola, Mocambique, Cambodia and especially from Vietnam. These foreign workers had have to live in special hostels, to avoid contact between the foreigners and the normal citizens. One of these hostels was the building complex at the Rhinstrasse in Berlin's Lichtenberg district. Due to the terrible hygienic situation and the brutal crimes, the city closed the hostel in 1995. The pictures are made in early april, 2003. |
