Ruth Ingeborg Ohlmann was born in Germany. After her family emigrated to Canada in 1982 Ruth Ohlmann received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance in 1989 and her Opera Diploma in 1991 at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. She then absolved a three year “Stage” at l’atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal (Montréal, Québec) from where she moved on to the International Opera Studio in Zurich (Switzerland) with the Zurich Opera. During this time she was also a guest at the Vancouver Opera Company. Her first engagement followed in Coburg, Germany. 1998-2000 she was engaged by the Opera Leipzig to where she will return in 2008. From 2000 untill 2007 she was a member of the State Theater at Gärtnerplatz in Munich. Ms Ohlmann has participated successfully at international competitions. She can be heard on CD in a live recording of Viennese melodies and Operetta with the „Alt-Wiener Strauß Ensemble“ and as Angele Didier in a live-recording of “Der Graf von Luxemburg” from the operettafestival in Mörbisch/Austria.
