Hi, I am White Velvet (but always only called Velvet) and I am handicapped since my parents broke my right leg when I was a baby. I lost it! So since then I am jumping around with just one leg. It is no problem for me. If I am tired I lay down to the floor of my cage to relax or the special perches, which Ella calls "the raft". I was born in spring 1996 and in the fall I came to my new owner - to Ella.

I am very interesting what is going on around me. So I am sitting there and watch to all what happens. I am watching very often what my humans are doing around me.
Especially I like to watch if anybody is making anything around our cage. That what is happening here if they are hoovering the floor or do anything else. That is so interesting for me as budgie. How you can see I am a very nosy budgie.
But I am also very lazy. If I don't want to fly I let simply carry me around. Especially if Ella is cleaning the cage and I am sitting on the ground I am always trying to getting up and I am doing as I can't it and Ella has of course found out that I am just doing like I cannot get back on the perch. Or I do as I cannot fly. But she just carries me around if she is in a hurry.
And at one nice day, this stupid Jacky bite me feathers on one wing away. She bite it so bad away that they did not grown again and as the vet said they will never grow again. No way. So I can really not fly anymore. That makes me sad. It seems as other budgies like Violet like it. She thinks it is funny to throw me down from my perch. I don't find it funny - of course! So I shout loud for help. Mostly anybody of my humans come for help. All other budgies are nice to me and accepted my handicap from first day, except of Violet who is the one that tries to throw me down of my perch at most.

 

 

After one year, Lemon and I have gotten a special perch to sit on. There are four perches in row. It looks like a raft. So we can relax very well on this. At the begin it was not easy to stay on it, because we also didn't knew for what this is. But now we have found out that it is help for us. We both got always angry when Beauty lied on it across because she needs so much space!

About Jacky. I didn't care about her. She was a crazy person and often she went on your nerves.
